Abstract
The color application in Chinese landscape painting is rooted in traditional norms, with "coloring according to categories" as its theoretical foundation. It refines the typical characteristics of objects to highlight the beauty of imagery. Centered on the principle of "harmony between ink and color", it takes ink as the main body and color as the supplement, achieving the beauty of harmony through the integration of ink and color as well as the balance of cold and warm tones. Meanwhile, the use of color emphasizes rhythmic changes in emptiness and solidity, density and lightness, creating the beauty of rhythm by adhering to the concepts of "treating blank space as black" and "appropriate revelation and concealment". Moreover, color serves as a carrier of emotion and artistic conception, adapting to the changes of real scenes and temporal contexts, conveying the creator's sentiments and realizing the integration of meaning and scene. In addition, the beauty of texture is displayed through the ingenious use of pigments of different materials.
