Research on Color Science-Enabled Innovative Pathways for Spatial Design Pedagogy

Abstract

The traditional teaching of spatial design often overlooks the core value of color psychology, resulting in deficiencies in curriculum systems, cognitive biases, and technological lag. These issues hinder students from developing a multidimensional perception of space and innovating in design. This study focuses on the intrinsic logic between color and spatial design, clarifying how color profoundly influences spatial experience and conceptual interpretation through three pathways: visual regulation of spatial scale, emotional atmosphere creation, and behavior-oriented personalized construction. It systematically analyzes the existing problems in spatial design education and proposes an innovative, color theory-driven teaching approach. Practice has demonstrated that this approach effectively reestablishes the central role of color psychology in design education, significantly enhancing students' "spatial color shaping ability" and "multidimensional spatial cognition." This lays a solid foundation for cultivating interdisciplinary design talents who possess scientific thinking, humanistic liter acy, design skills, and cultural awareness.
