The implementation of the "Double Reduction" policy requires schools to comprehensively improve educational quality and optimize after-school services. As a mandatory subject in basic education, art education's teaching quality directly impacts the development of students' core competencies. Based on middle school art color teaching practices and the Hunan Fine Arts version textbook, this paper thoroughly examines the significant value of engaging teaching methods in improving classroom efficiency and stimulating learning interest. Research shows that scientifically designed engaging teaching methods can effectively enhance classroom teaching quality while reducing students' academic burden. This paper explores new approaches to middle school art color teaching that align with the "Double Reduction" requirements from four dimensions: classroom quality improvement, homework innovation, after-school services, and evaluation reform, aiming to provide references for frontline teachers.
