Chinese painting shares a common ground with other art forms, namely the use of a writing brush for painting. In the decorative painting of pottery and porcelain in arts and crafts, the ancient Changsha kiln pioneered the use of various colored glazes for decoration and painting. The expression method embodies the freehand brushwork characteristic of Chinese painting, not being rigidly bound to precise depiction of details. It conveys the charm of objects through simple lines and generalizing techniques, forming the unique aesthetic characteristics of Changsha kiln glaze decoration. This article will analyze the expression techniques of Chinese painting and explore how to use the formal language of Chinese painting to express the painting and decorative effects in the glaze painting of the ancient Changsha kiln.
